Alexander Fedorov was born in 1978 in the city of Leningrad. As a child, the guy was involved in playing sports, but it was all at the level of entertainment. Alexander also went to the section on freestyle wrestling and martial arts.
The father of the child was a bodybuilder and had good results in city competitions in the mid-80s. He also went to tournaments that were held in the Baltic countries, namely in Estonia and Lithuania. Just the same Anatoly Fedorov instilled in his son a love of bodybuilding. Little Sasha often attended trainings and competitions with his father, talked with his friends, and this was the reason that the young man wanted to follow in his father's footsteps. Bodybuilding Junior Fedorov began at the age of 14 years.
Fedorov’s height is about 185 centimeters. Chest circumference - one and a half meters. At the time when an athlete is preparing to compete in competitions, his weight is no more than 130 kilograms, but once before the tournament the weigh-in showed 137 kilograms. The following data also testifies to Alexander’s impressive size: waist circumference is 1 meter, and hips - 82 centimeters. The calf is about 55 centimeters, and the biceps is about 60 centimeters.
Alexander Fedorov began paying close attention to bodybuilding in 1994. Training began to be systematic and two years later, the athlete was able to take part in his debut competition at a professional level. Prior to that, he acted in the category "Under 16". Such tournaments were specially organized by Vladimir Dubinin and Alexander Ushnev so that young bodybuilders could feel the spirit of competition before they begin their performances at the adult level. The organizers said that holding such events makes it possible to at least slightly reduce the difference that exists between junior tournaments and professional ones.
In 1996, Fedorov won the St. Petersburg Championship, and a year later, Alexander Fedorov went to Germany to participate in a bodybuilding tournament. The competition was called the "Open Championship of Germany." The trip was organized by the godfather of the guy. This was the first performance for Fedorov. After him, he became famous in Germany. Until 2006, he regularly received invitations from the organizers to take part in any competition. It was after the performance in Germany that Fedorov began to be called Russian Arnold.
First World Junior Championship
The open championship of Germany became a springboard for Alexander Fedorov. Bodybuilding began to increasingly fall in love with a guy in himself. In 1998, the guy decided to declare the world championship, which took place in Spain. Alexander managed to get to the tournament in excellent sports form, which affected the performances of the athlete.
Another success factor was Fedorov’s ability to overcome his fear. After Germany, many began to celebrate the high level of stress in Alexander. As a result, the Russian athlete managed to win the Junior World Championships.
The stunning success at the start of his career made an athlete a star, but Fedorov didn’t start suffering from a star disease. The athlete himself says that victories at an early stage of his career did not change his attitude towards life and other people. Alexander repeatedly mentioned in his interviews that his coach Vladimir Dubinin always said that he needed to be closer to the ground. That was the motto of the athlete, with whom he is going through life so far.
Career before injury
At the European Championships, which took place in 2003, Fedorov was able to win the title of absolute champion. In the same year, he took part for the first time at the Grand Prix of Russia, where he finished third. Next, the Russian missed Ronnie Coleman and Jay Cutler, who are the biggest stars in the world of bodybuilding.
Alexander Fedorov a year later took part in the competition again. In 2004, he was able to climb one step higher, winning a silver medal. Victory in the competition won Ronnie Coleman.
In 2005, as a "Russian Mr. Olympia" Fedorov was invited to the competition "Mr. Olympia." Competitions were held in Las Vegas, USA. He became the first athlete with a Russian passport to take part in this tournament. Fedorov managed to take 20th place.
A year later, he participated in the open bodybuilding category at the Austrian Grand Prix. At the tournament, the Russian was able to take 10th place. In 2006, Alexander received a serious injury. He tore the tendon muscles of the chest. After the athlete had an operation, he decided to announce the end of his sports career. Alexander Fedorov at the time was 28 years old.
For eight years, Fedorov was out of the big sports. It ate it from the inside. Throughout this time, he was engaged in training, and in 2014 he announced that he was returning to competitive bodybuilding. Alexander Fedorov in the same 2014 took part in competitions that were held in his hometown. In St. Petersburg, the athlete ranked eighth.
During 2015, the bodybuilder took part in five serious competitions in the open category. First, Alexander went to the competitions in the United States of America, where he participated in tournaments in Orlando and in New York. In the Big Apple, Fedorov took the seventh place, and in Florida - the third prize position.
After two American stages, the Russian bodybuilder returned to Europe, where he took part in competitions that took place in Madrid and in Prague. Neither in Spain nor in the Czech Republic did Fedorov manage to get into the top ten - 12 and 14 places, respectively. At the end of the year, the athlete was invited to another tournament - in Lahti. In the Finnish city, Alexander again remained outside the top ten, taking 11th place. In 2016, he again went to the United States of America. This time the Grand Prix was held in the city of Maryland called Baltimore. Alexander Fedorov on the results of the competition took 9th place.
In preparation for tournaments, Fedorov rarely changes the composition of training. The only thing that changes is the pace. It increases. Due to the fact that the athlete spends more time exercising, he begins to rest less. Even two workouts a day take almost all my free time. Between them, Alexander should have time to relax a bit, pay attention to his wife Natalia and do a few things around the house, for example, take out the trash or go to the store.
During the training, the athlete performs the bench press from behind the head and squats. At home, the wife prepares suitable music for her spouse, under which he performs a free program. After that, Fedorov returns to the gym, where again he is waiting for a squat with a barbell on his shoulders, on his chest and bench press.
Proper nutrition is the basis for muscle growth, at least, so it is considered. In his interviews, Fedorov often said that he tried to eat everything except fat food. He has no meal schedules. The athlete is just trying to eat as much as possible.
Alexander loves to eat what his wife is cooking. A bodybuilder himself cannot call himself a good cook. In one interview, Fedorov called the cooking process one of the least favorite things in his life.
Preparing for the competition
Preparation for participation in the tournament is not only in muscle training and proper nutrition. A big role is played by the emotional state of the athlete. In preparation for the tournament, Fedorov is often tormented by insomnia. Especially it seemed the first performance after returning to the big sport.
Preparing for the first tournament, to which Alexander declared his candidacy after the resumption of a bodybuilder's career, was generally one of the most difficult in the professional career of a Russian athlete. He had to start almost from scratch. Much help in training provided muscle memory, but the eight-year break was very strong. Already during the tournament itself Fedorov began to realize that his muscles were very heavy. After the end of the competition, Alexander didn’t go in for sports for almost half a month, but tried to just relax and restore his body at least a little after exhausting workouts in preparation for the performance.
The main things in the life of Alexander Fedorov
Alexander very clearly distinguishes between sport and personal life. He believes that the main thing in bodybuilding or in another sport is the goal. If a person does not have a goal, then you should not expect good results from him.
In order to become a bodybuilder, you must be naturally gifted. Fedorov believes that the athlete should monitor the proportions and try to always maintain them in perfect condition or in close to that. Also, a bodybuilder says that one should not focus only on one category of muscles, but it is necessary to develop them all in proportion. However, there are times when some muscles are not as hard to train as others. If we talk about Alexander himself, his hips are very well trained, so he does not focus on them. At the same time, a bodybuilder focuses very strongly on the muscles of the chest.
In people Fedorov appreciate openness, since he himself is such and likes to communicate on an equal footing with everyone. Alexander tries to do everything possible so that they see a simple person in him and that no one envies him.
Fedorov is a motorist. He is interested in "Formula 1".The athlete himself also has a vehicle - “BMW”. And in the race, he supports precisely this team.
The athlete once in his life smoked cigarettes. It happened before the tournament. Alexander could not resist, because it was impossible to eat before the competition. However, after that incident, Fedorov no longer touched cigarettes.
Favorite movie athlete - "Gladiator." Alexander prefers going to the cinema to reading books. The bodybuilder himself explains his dislike of books by the fact that he read a lot of books in his childhood.
